We drove up from the south to the north east on a lovely spring day. Roseberry Topping, the local hill, was stunning in the evening light. It felt good to be back up north.

Spent the late evening at the Riverside in support of Middlesbrough FC in their 3-1 win over Cardiff. Come on Boro!

Middlesbrough!?! They are the very definition of an old brassiere – no cups and little support. I’ll wager you never stood on the terraces at Ayresome Park on a freezing cold and wet Tuesday night in the dead of winter 1987 to watch them play a Rumbelows Cup fourth round replay against Brighton and Hove Albion! Neither did I, of course.
