Kaitoke & Tolkien

Took a Boxing Day walk in forest above the Hutt River. It was cool under tree cover on a very hot day.

Came across the site where Rivendell, home of the Elves, was filmed for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Only an archway hints at the Tolkienian goings on.

It looks really a good place to go on a Boxing Day, we are recovering after having the family yesterday, a friend is coming for lunch. Very wet here and red flood warnings in many places around the country. You are in the right place.

So pleased you are having a wonderful Christmas. We have my two daughters here, first time in 5 years! Sandra, my eldest, brought her husband from Tasmania, whom I had not met before. Truly blessed to be with the family. Dinah’s family visiting tomorrow as well, great to be all together. It is so lovely to read about all your experiences, it transports us to beautiful places and peaceful thoughts. Love to you both and many good wishes for the New Year, not long now! Bartje and Dinah.
