The National flag and civil ensign of the Vatican City and Papal States current flag was first officially hoisted on June 8, 1929 when Pope Pius XI signed the Lateran Treaty with Italy, creating a new independent state governed by the Holy See.
The flag is divided evenly in two with yellow near the flagpole with the white half displaying the papal tiara above the crossed keys of St Peter.
For some reason all the flags we saw today appeared to be flying upside down.

Re upside down flag, I have some theories but best not on a public forum!
I am at last back on line and on telephone after 3 months without. Sharp words with my MP, my MSP and the CEO of BT seemed to do the trick.
Got a phonecall from Margaret Carassik (USA) who is hoping to build a labyrinth at Dunollie castle in Oban but is hoping even more to meet Di. (I sent her Di’s book years ago). She arrives in Scotland on 8th June and is, I think, staying for a couple of weeks. I told her that you are coming in June but I’m not sure of the dates. Do you know yet when you’ll be here?
