Big garden

We are so enjoying the wild flowers of ‘the big garden’ the meaning of the name ‘Lismore’.

Beyond the bright yellow of the flag iris a medieval tidal fish trap can be seen in the small bay to the south-east of Castle Coeffin.  Among the many other flowers the pale lilac orchids are glorious in their simple beauty.

Memories of Lismore are suddenly flooding my mind: the building of the Manas Labyrinth in atrocious weather … singing ‘Haida’ – the old Yiddish nagun – in Jen’s kitchen … the making of clay goddesses and desperately trying to bake them dry in the oven on the morning of our departure … undertaking a lower world Shamanic journey and meeting my beloved power animal Fred for the last time… falling asleep in the front bedroom under a blanket of a thousand visible stars whilst listening to Joni Mitchell’s Blue… the story of The Kilted Stranger… and of course Jen’s incredibly generous hospitality. Very happy days!
